“Ascension” is a little different from my usual stuff. Faced with enormous computer problems, I was unable to open large orchestral projects, so I set out to create something simpler with just a few instruments. You might hear I was inspired by the simplicity of beats, which is why the drums are so prominent. However, as you may realize, the EP is called “Ascension” because in the end I couldn’t help myself, and the complexity and musicality increases with each track, finally ending with a waltz that one would be hard-pressed to find from any beat-based track.
It is also called Ascension as the inspiration for the EP was drawn from nature, with imagery ranging from oceans to forests to skies in my mind as I was writing the music.
Some of the tracks have also been remade or repurposed in subsequent projects.
